This is according to Iranian cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Mehrdad Koushki, who added that Itikaf is a spiritual practice and act of worship that has a profound impact on the participants.
This ritual enhances one’s spiritual mindset and connection with God, bringing about a sense of inner peace, he stated.
It also helps individuals manage stress and anxiety and, since Itikaf is held in groups, it boosts one’s ability to work in organized settings and strengthens social relationships, the cleric said.
Hojat-ol-Islam Koushki went on to say that Itikaf is an opportunity for reflection and focus, helping individuals in choosing their path and making future decisions.
“It plays a significant role in discerning between right and wrong. Additionally, through the connection and closeness developed with the Creator, and influenced by the appeals made to Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), it fosters a sense of reform, repentance, and hope within the individual, guiding them towards improvement and optimism for the future.”
Itikaf is a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, and is regarded as a highly rewarding act of worship in Islam.
